GURGAON: A Delhi-based businessman was allegedly forced to pay Rs 60 lakh in an extortion plot carried out by a couple and their associate, who were arrested by Gurgaon cops and let off son bail on Wednesday.
Police said the businessman who lives in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar and runs a transport company filed a complaint on April 24.
He said he was targeted by a woman, Pinki Tomar (31), who allegedly took an objectionable video of him after spiking his drink. Together, Pinki, her husband Tarun (41) and their friend Prithvi Pal Singh (45) threatening to release the video online if he didn’t agree to their demands.
Pinki and Prithvi Pal are former employees of a private bank, police said on Wednesday.
The businessman alleged that he met Pinki at the 32nd Milestone complex this March. The both of them got to talking and she took his phone number.
Days later, Pinki called the businessman to meet her and the two went to her house in Sector 15, he said.
“She offered me a cold drink that was spiked with a sedation drug. I fell unconscious after consuming the drink. When I regained consciousness, I found myself in an objectionable condition. She threatened me that she had shot a video and she would post it online,” the complainant told cops.
Together, the three accused demanded that the businessman pay them cash, and give them a Creta car, a fridge, a double-bed, kitchen appliances, and so on.
“Due to fear, I gave them everything, including the car,” the businessman alleged.
On April 11, he said, they called him near Apollo Hospital in Delhi’s Jasola and asked for Rs 30 lakh. Apart from releasing his video, they also threatened to kill him, after which he approached Gurgaon police.
Following his complaint, an FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station under sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
Pinki was arrested from Sector 77 in the city, and Tarun and Prithvi Pal were held from Dhaula Kuan.
“Prithvi Pal and Pinki became friends while they worked at a bank earlier. The couple and Prithvi Pal then hatched a plan to extort money. Further investigation is underway,” said Preet Pal Singh Sangwan, ACP (crime).
The three got bail on Wednesday.
