P Vijayan removed as chief of state anti-terrorist squad
Thiruvananthapuram: The government has removed P Vijayan IPS, an Inspector General rank officer of the 1999 batch, from the charge of the head of Kerala anti-terrorist squad (KATS). He was also removed from the post of the MD of Kochi-based Kerala Books and Publications Society which he has been holding additionally.
As per the transfer order, he has been asked to report before the state police chief and the order regarding his new assignment would be issued separately. It is not clear why the officer has been shifted from the post suddenly.
DIG (Kannur range) Putta Vimaladitya, a 2008 batch officer, has been given the additional charge of KATS chief. Vimaladitya was part of KATS earlier when it was set up and he has also been trained by Greyhounds, the special police unit of the Andhra Pradesh police to combat the Maoists.
