LUCKNOW: Even as the city continued to experience below normal temperatures on Wednesday following thunder showers that lashed two days ago, the met department has predicted another round of thunderstorm and rainfall during the weekend.
"A fresh western disturbance (WD) has hit the Himalayas. It will start impacting the western parts of the state from Thursday. The influence of the WD will gradually cover entire UP, resulting in light rain with thunder activity in most parts, including Lucknow, on weekend," said Mohammad Danish, senior scientist in state met department.
The mercury levels had plummeted in the city due to thunder showers on Sunday and Monday. Thereafter, there has been a gradual rise in the temperatures, but they are still below normal. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in the city was 35.3 degrees Celsius, 4.2 units below normal, and the minimum temperature was 19.9, 3.2 notches below normal.
Mainly clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatures around 36 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively is expected on Thursday.
According to the met department, maximum temperature will rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius during the next three days and thereafter drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius between Saturday and Monday. Minimum temperature is very likely to rise by around two degrees Celsius during the next two days and thereafter no significant change is expected.
Weather has not been following the usual pattern this year. There were no WDs in January and February. As a result, there were no winter rain and weather conditions remained unusually warm in February and the first fortnight of March. However, steady stream of WDs has been causing thunderstorms at regular intervals. As a result, weather have been by and large pleasant in April so far.
