Villager kills relatives over water issue

Mandya: Satish, a resident of Heggadahalli village, allegedly murdered his sister-in-law Shantamma, 47, and nephew Yasvant, 17, a PUC student, over a trivial issue at 2pm on Wednesday. The incident happened in the Pandavapura police limits.
The families of the accused and the victim were using a single pumpset for irrigation purposes.

On Wednesday afternoon, a war of words broke out between Satish and Shantamma over sharing of water. Satish allegedly attacked Shantamma with a lethal weapon, police said. When Yasvant rushed to save his mother, Satish allegedly attacked him too, police added.
The accused surrendered to Melukote police. Investigation is underway.
