LUCKNOW: BSP national president Mayawati on Thursday said that in order to end corruption in urban local bodies, there is a need to vote for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which will work for the welfare of all. She made an appeal to the urban voters to exercise their franchise judiciously.
Hitting out at the ruling BJP and the Samajwadi Party, Mayawati said that the parties in power not only misuse the government machinery but also use all possible ways to win the elections.
"But the intelligent, aware and hard-working urban voter should make the right use of their vote, for its rightful benefit, comfort, cleanliness and curbing of corruption," she said.
Mayawati has decided to stay away from active campaigning for the urban local body polls but she has been using her Twitter handle to encourage her party cadre and be conversant with the voters.
In an appeal to the voters, she said that if people in UP want to come out of their everyday difficulties, insecurity and exploitation, they will have to look beyond the lucrative promises made by the BJP government and their claims made on paper.
