Devang of Jaipuria School wins title in TT championship

Kanpur: Devang Somani of host Jaipuria School stole the show winning the titles of the under-13 and under-15 boys’ group of the first invitation district table tennis championship which concluded here on Wednesday.
In the final, he defeated his school mate Yug Agnihotri. The girls group under-13 title was won by Preksha Tiwari of DPS Azad Nagar defeating Sanaya Bhatia of Jaipuria School in the final.
The under-15 boys’ final was a repetition of under-13 as it was played between the same players and the result was the same. However, in the girls’ group Abana Layal (DPS Azad Nagar) humbled Suvigya Kushwaha (Jai Narayan Vidya Mandir). Durvank of Chintel School won the under-11 boys title beating Arnav Bhatia (GD Goenka School) in the final tie. Aradhya Singh (DPS Barra) and Ridhima Awasthi (Deen Dayal School) were adjudged as winners and runners up.
After the event, chief guest Sanjeev Pathak president UP Table Tennis Association gave away prizes to the winners. Sanjay Tandon, secretary, UPTTA praised the initiative taken by the Jaipuria School. MK Mishra welcomed the chief guest. The office-bearers of the District TT Association were present on the occasion.
