Man gets 5 yrs jail for murder bid
Kanpur: Additional sessions judge Akhileshwar Prasad Mishra on Wednesday sentenced accused Chetan Kumar to five years rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for attempt to murder. In view of the reformatory measure the accused is being punished with five years sentence, the court stated in its order. According to ADGC Shiv Bhagwan Goswami, KK Pandey, lecturer at CSJM University in his FIR alleged that while Paramedical Institute was conducting examination on April 30, 2011, it was around 12 noon that a student named Chetan Kumar entered into the hall with a loaded country-made pistol and shouted that he would kill him because he had failed him. When he was challenged and chased by students, Chetan ran towards Dr Praveen Katiyar's chamber and opened fire on him. As the first shot had missed, he again loaded his pistol but was later caught with the help of students and inspector KP Singh. A .315 bore country-made pistol and four cartridges were recovered from his possession.tnn
