To implicate cops, man injures self after arrest

Nagpur: A 30-year-old man, arrested along with three others on charges of attempt to murder and robbery, allegedly tried to smash his forehead at Beltarodi police station on Wednesday. The goon, Nitin Gupta, has sustained serious head injuries.
“Seven cases including attempt to murder have been registered against Gupta. He is also known to be an accomplice of a notorious criminal,” police said.
According to police, complainant Sagar Shahu had gone to a pan kiosk with his friend Shrikant Bodkhe after dinner on Tuesday night, when Gupta, Akhilesh Mishra (30), Aditya Kishore Pachbhai (19) and Rahul Suryavanshi (30) attacked him with a beer bottle over an old dispute.
After Shahu informed police, Gupta, Mishra and Pachbhai were arrested.
“With the intention to mount pressure on police, Gupta smashed his head on the windowpane of the van, injuring himself,” police said. TNN
