AHMEDABAD: There are cooler times in store for citizens over the next few days. While the afternoon was warm with the maximum temperature in the city crossing 40°C after a week, the weather suddenly changed after 4pm with clouds providing respite from the scorching heat.
Light drizzles were reported in isolated areas of Ahmedabad on Wednesday, including Ghuma and Bopal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad was 40.4°C, remaining 0.9 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature in the city was 24.1°C, which was 1.4 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature increased by just a fraction of a degree from yesterday.
The maximum temperature is set to dip to 39°C in Ahmedabad according to IMD forecast, due to a cyclonic circulation. For four to six days, the weather is expected to remain relatively cool with maximum temperatures below 40°C, according to the Met department.
"There is a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and its neighbouring areas. Rain occurred at isolated places in the South Gujarat region on Wednesday," the IMD stated.
Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely in the districts of Ahmedabad, Banaskantha,
Gandhinagar, Patan, Mehsana, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, Narmada, Dangs, Surat and Tapi on Thursday, the IMD forecast states.
"No large change in maximum temperature is expected over the next 24 hours, thereafter, a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by two-three degrees is expected over the next four to six days across the state," the forecast adds.
Ahmedabad remained the hottest weather station in the state with a maximum temperature at 40.4°C, followed by Kandla (40.2°C), Amreli (39.8°C), Deesa (39.3°C) and Gandhinagar (39.2°C).
