Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 101.45 points up at 17915.05 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as BEML Land Assets, Parin Furniture, Brightcom Group, Kirloskar Pneumatic and Jakharia Fabric, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 40 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 10 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, BPCL, Bajaj Finserv and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers during the day, while HDFC Life, HUL, Power Grid, Adani Ports SEZ and Axis Bank ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 348.8 points up at 60649.38.
Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Textiles, Agro Processing, Real Estate and Holding Company sectors, while selling was witnessed in Trading, IT Enabled Services, Media & Entertainment, Fertilisers and Shipping sectors during the day.
