Jaipur: A police constable posted to provide security to a jewellery shop owner was injured when two to three men armed with guns fired multiple rounds at the jewellery shop in Sujangarh in Churu on Wednesday. Despite being injured in the shoulder, the constable chased the gunmen and apprehended one of them, SP (Churu) Rajesh Kumar Meena said.
Sources said that two to three gunmen arrived at the jewellery shop in the evening and opened fire. They said that a notorious gangster had made a threatening extortion call to the shop’s owner a few days ago. The police constable, Ramesh, had been posted at the shop to provide security to the owner.
Police sources said that constable Ramesh fired five rounds at the gunmen, and then gave chase till he caught hold of one of them. Locals came to the assistance of the constable and soon police teams arrived and took into custody the gunman he had apprehended.
Sources said the gunmen fired multiple rounds.
