He just needed a bookmark, a placeholder job before joining the Los Angeles Police Department. So in June 1995, when a family friend who owned a Chevrolet store in L.A. asked Manny Sedano if he wanted to try selling cars, Sedano said "sure."
"In the first couple of months, I made so much for a 21-, 22-year-old, that it was more than the [law-enforcement] job I was applying for," Sedano told Automotive News.
Nearly 30 years later, Sedano just purchased his fifth dealership and third of the year.
Sedano on March 13 acquired South Bay Volkswagen within the iconic Mile of Cars in National City, Calif., from husband and wife Rudy and Simona Erm. He renamed it National City Volkswagen.
