Justice Rajasekhar Mantha's bench directed the police to preserve videography of the post-mortem and also assist the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). The Court has also asked the police to handover the FIR and autopsy report to the family. The FIR, autopsy report and the case diary are to be submitted to the High Court.
The situation in Kaliaganj remained tense with police conducting route marches in several localities. The family members have demanded a CBI probe on the matter.
Meanwhile, a relative of BJP Panchayat member Bishnu Barman was allegedly killed by police in Kaliaganj last night, claimed BJP. Political slugfest went unabated over the death of the youth with BJP MP Deboshree Chaudhuri sitting on dharna.
"Police raided the house of a BJP Panchayat Samiti member, Bishnu Barman at 2.30 am today but did not find him. They brutally shot dead a Rajbangshi young man named Mrityunjay Barman at Kaliaganj," alleged Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, said.
Police allegedly entered a wedding ceremony at midnight and looked for Bishnu Barman. When they could not find him, police reportedly tried to arrest the guests present there. Bishnu Barman’s kin Mritunjoy protested and then he was allegedly killed by police.
“My son was attacked and killed. He was not associated with any politics,” claimed Mritunjoy Barman’s father.
“Trigger happy 'Mamata' police raided the house of a BJP Panchayet Samiti Member Bishnu Barman at 2:30 am midnight (April 27; 2023) but did not find him. They brutally shot dead a Rajbangshi young man named Mrityunjay Barman; 33 years old... This is tyranny and state terror at its worst form and Mamata Banerjee is merry making like Emperor Nero while the state is burning and sliding into a phase of civil unrest... The people should rise democratically by raising their voice against such internecine violence and bloodshed,” Adhikari tweeted.
Trinamool Congress blamed the BJP for doing politics with body. “BJP was trying to find a body to do politics with it. They are doing ‘body politics’,” said Kunal Ghosh, state spokesperson of Trinamool Congress, in the context of the death of Mritunjoy Barman.
