Why need income, caste docus for disability certificates: Court
Jaipur: The court of the chief commissioner for specially-abled persons, govt of India, has sought to know from the commissioner for specially-abled persons, government of Rajasthan, the reason behind the requirement for caste and income certificates from specially-abled persons for getting disability certificates made in the Desert state.
It asked the state government to take appropriate action in the matter so that submission of these two documents could be avoided. The court of the chief commissioner for specially-abled persons wrote this to the state government taking into cognisance the petition filed by Hemant Bhai Goyal, vice-president, Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh.
The directorate of specially-abled persons in Rajasthan had earlier said that it had no information at which level of the department decisions were taken to submit documents such as caste and income certificates and bank account details along with the application form to get a disability certificate /UDID card issued.
Having said this in a reply to an RTI query, the directorate provided a list of documents required to apply for a disability certificate.
