Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.29%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of HCL Technologies(up 1.15 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.7 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.62 per cent), Coforge(up 0.35 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.63 per cent), Wipro(down 0.29 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.29 per cent up at 27065.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 44.35 points at 17813.6, while the BSE Sensex stood up 169.87 points at 60300.58.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 ended in the green, while 16 closed in the red.

Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank and Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kirloskar Pneumatic, Barak Valley, RS Software, Saksoft Ltd and Peninsula Land hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while ASL Industries, Aavas Financiers, Ipca Labs, Brightcom Group and BEML Land Assets hit their fresh 52-week lows.
