MG Motor India has finally announced the prices of the new Comet. The new car gets a price tag of Rs 7.98 lakh. This is the second electric car from MG Motor India and has become the most affordable electric car in the Indian market.

The new MG Comet EV is available in two variants. However, MG Motor India is yet to reveal the full pricing of the vehicle. The introductory price starts at Rs 7.98 lakh. The bookings will start from 15th May, 2023.

With its quirky and unique design, the MG Comet EV stands out from the crowd. It features a quadricycle-inspired body design that incorporates upscale features like split headlights, LED elements spanning the width of the vehicle, stylish alloy wheels, a tall C-Pillar, and a dual-tone paint job. The small EV is a two-door vehicle that can accommodate up to four passengers.

In terms of dimensions, the MG Comet is 2,974mm long, 1,505mm wide, and 1,631mm tall, with a 2,010mm wheelbase.

Upon entering the Comet, one is greeted by a relatively spacious cabin, with twin 10.25-inch screens at the forefront. The 2-spoke steering wheel is a nice touch and also includes some controls reminiscent of the Apple iPod, which make the journey a bit smoother. The features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, push-button start, a digital key, power windows, a grey interior theme, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Comet is the smallest four-wheeled vehicle on sale in India, but it won’t compromise on space efficiency. It is built on an electric skateboard architecture with a long 2,010mm wheelbase, and a boxy shape. The exterior design will sport a two-tone finish for the front fascia, a tall and stubby nose, and a wraparound strip under the windscreen with LED lighting elements that extend to the wing mirrors.

MG Comet EV range

The MG Comet EV comes powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack. It takes about 7 hours to charge from 0-100% through a regular home socket. MG provides a 3.3 kW charger with the car. There is no fast charging system available with the MG Comet EV. It gets a range of 230 km according to the official figures. The electric motor produces a maximum power of 42 PS and a peak torque of 110 Nm.

The new MG Comet EV also comes with a range of connected features including live support and voice recognition. MG Motors offers multiple customisation options that customers can choose from at the dealerships. The aftermarket accessories that are available with the Comet EV include a range of aftermarket decals and many in-car accessories.
