The Nation's Weather for Thursday, April 27, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As showers exit the New England coast tomorrow morning, rain
will be expanding northward from the Tennessee Valley into
the Ohio Valley. Farther south, damaging winds can accompany
heavy downpours in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the
Florida Panhandle. Locally severe storms with strong wind
gusts and a flash flood risk will rumble through South
Texas. A system will be moving through the northern Plains,
with rain showers from Montana into the Dakotas. Locations
to the West of the Rockies will continue to be warm. This
will accelerate the snowmelt in the mountains, causing
rivers to rise. Any water will be very cold, and entering
cold bodies of water can lead to cold-water shock. The
mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes will have a tranquil day,
before rain arrives on Friday.
