Tractor on wrong side hits pilot car in Haryana BJP chief's convoy, 3 injured
The accident took place near Himgiri Chowk on the Pataudi road
GURGAON: Three cops were injured after the pilot vehicle they were travelling in as part of the state BJP president's convoy was hit by a tractor being driven on the wrong side of Pataudi road on Monday.
The accident near Himgiri Chowk came a day after BJP's Rajya Sabha member, Kartikeya Sharma, suffered minor injuries after his vehicle was hit by a truck on the KMP.
Head constable Pradeep Kumar, who lodged a complaint after Monday's accident, said they were asked to be part of Dhankar's convoy that was on its way from Delhi to Gurgaon.
"Around 9.30pm, the convoy started from Delhi with sub-inspector Shyam Phool, Hawa Singh and me," Kumar said in his complaint at the Sector 10A police station. Half an hour into the journey, the convoy had reached near the Basai flyover when the tractor collided with the PCR van.
"It was a blue tractor with a tanker attached to it. It didn't have any registration number. The tanker overturned from the impact of the accident and the driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. The three of us suffered injuries. We arranged for another vehicle and reached the Sector 10 government hospital for treatment," Kumar said.
A team from the Sector 10A police station reached the spot.
"Our night patrolling team was near the accident spot. After we received a call on the helpline number, a group of cops was sent to the spot. We have formed teams to nab the driver and seized the vehicle too. We are scanning CCTV footage to identify the driver and get more clarity on the sequence of events. An FIR has been registered in the case," said Arvind Kumar, the SHO of Sector 10A police station.
The FIR against the unidentified tractor driver was registered under sections 279 (whoever drives or rides any vehicle on any public way in a manner so rash or negligent as to endanger human life or to be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person) and 337 (whoever causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the IPC.
On Sunday evening, Rajya Sabha MP Sharma had a narrow escape after his SUV was hit from behind by a truck on the KMP near Bilaspur.
