Budget shopping app Pinduoduo’s sibling Temu has accelerated its pace of expansion into Europe by starting sales of ultra-low priced goods in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Temu is now available in ten countries, offering a free shipping promotion and setting the price of some goods at 10% of the regular retail price. Temu runs a marketplace for items ranging from wedding garments to kitchen supplies and electronics, with many items priced at less than 5 euros. The app was first launched in the US last September and has been downloaded 33 million times since then, according to mobile intelligence firm Sensor Tower. [Jiemian, in Chinese]
