Galaxy Fold 6 might bring the design change many of us are looking for

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold smartphones are the most popular foldables out there, at least when it comes to foldable devices that give you a mini-tablet-like screen instead of just being regular phones that fold in half. This year, Samsung will be launching the fifth device in the Fold series, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which will bring the usual yearly spec upgrades along with an important upgrade to the hinge that makes the folding action possible.

But what the Galaxy Z Fold 5 won’t bring is a change in the screen sizes. It’s going to be yet another Z Fold that has a cover screen that is too narrow, meaning some of us won’t be standing in line with our wallets out to get one. But could that change with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that’s undoubtedly going to launch next year? Well, it’s possible, if a new rumor from Twitter is to be believed.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 to be the first in the series with a wider outer screen?

According to Twitter user Revegnus, a relatively new name in the smartphone info leaking business, “Samsung will keep the current form factor until Fold 5, but there will be a major form factor change starting with the Fold 6.” It’s unclear what kind of form factor change is being hinted at here, but a wider cover screen and an overall design that’s similar to foldable devices from Google and Oppo is a good bet, unless Samsung is directly going to jump to something like a dual-folding design.

With even the Galaxy Z Fold 5 a few months away from launch, it’s too early for Galaxy Z Fold 6 leaks to be taken too seriously. Still, it’s a small glimmer of hope for anyone who has been hoping Samsung will ditch its current Galaxy Z Fold design and make something like a Galaxy Z Fold XL, and it might be a good idea for them to skip the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and wait for more details on the Z Fold 6 in the coming months.
