1.5cr found in BBMP official’s house

Bengaluru: The Lokayukta announced a list of properties and cash found during its raids on seven government officials and a retired deputy conservator of forest that began on Monday. However, it is yet to determine how much of the assets are disproportionate to known income.
In a press note on Tuesday, Lokayukta said it found nearly Rs 1.5 crore cash in the house of Gangadharaiah KL, assistant director, town planning, BBMP, Yelahanka zone. In addition, sleuths found US $10,298, 1,180 Dubai dirhams and 35 Egyptian pounds. There were documents pertaining to 14 flats, five acres of agricultural land in Nelamangala and gold/silver articles worth Rs 73 lakh in the house.
The raid on T Hanumantaraya, assistant executive engineer, stormwater drain, Bommanahalli zone, revealed 25 acres of agricultural land and a farmhouse in Hiriyur, two sites in Hiriyur town and a house in Bengaluru.
Three houses in Ballari and Hospet, six acres of agricultural land in Ballari, four four-wheelers, Rs 23 lakh in cash and 1.4 kg of gold were found in the house of Hussain Saab, executive engineer, Gescom, Ballari. The haul from the raid on Suresh Meda, executive engineer, minor irrigation department, Bidar, revealed two houses and three sites in Bidar, 1.8 kg of gold and three four-wheelers.
IM Nagaraj, retired district conservator of forest, was found to have a house each in Honnali and Shivamogga, five commercial complexes, one farmhouse and one flat in Bengaluru.
Officer collapses
When sleuths raided his Kolar house, Venkateshappa, executive officer of Bangarpet taluk, had gone to Bagepalli. Rushing back home on learning about the raid, Venkateshappa collapsed near the main gate and began rolling over on the road. Lokayukta officials shifted him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him fit and fine.
The sleuths said Venkateshappa had 14 acres of agricultural land, one site in Bangarpet and two residential houses, one hardware shop, two cars and four poultry sheds.
