Dibrugarh: Hundreds of members of All Assam Students’ Union (Aasu) hit the streets in Dibrugarh on Tuesday in protest against the spiralling prices of essential commodities.
Aasu members carrying placards and banners took out a procession along the market places and thoroughfares of the town and raised slogans against the BJP-led government for its failure to control the soaring costs of petrol, diesel, LPG and other essential commodities. The protesters also demanded the resignation of state food, civil supplies, and consumer affairs minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass for failing to keep prices under control.
Saying that all commodities ranging ranging from food stuff, petrol, diesel, cooking gas, home construction materials and medicines have gone beyond the purchasing power of the
common people, the students' body sought strong action from the government to check price rise.
