New small Skoda SUV shines light on bold electric car plans

Skoda will grow its range of EVs with new entry-level SUV due in 2025

We’re about to see Skoda rapidly expand its all-electric line up to six models by 2026 and the most important could be this new small SUV. There aren’t many concrete details on the new car just yet, but Skoda has confirmed we should expect a price of around £22,000 when it launches in 2025.

We also know the car will be based on parent company VW’s MEB Entry platform, in turn shared with the production version of the recently revealed ID.2all concept. That concept will provide a base for an SUV-inspired Volkswagen ID.2X which will provide close competition for Skoda’s offering.

Skoda’s all-electric small SUV will sit around 4.1 metres in length, placing it just beneath the existing Kamiq in size, although it will offer comparable boot space to the larger Scala. We expect this EV to utilise the same powertrains as the ID.2. That means a front-mounted electric motor producing 233bhp, plus a choice of battery capacities (38kWh and 56kWh) for a range of up to 280 miles.

It will be produced in Spain alongside the Cupra UrbanRebel - another all-electric car using VW’s MEB Entry architecture.

Our exclusive image shows how Skoda’s small SUV could look when it hits the road. Using the official ‘sculptures’ as a base. We can see plenty of inspiration from the firm’s other upcoming electric models such as Elroq in the grille shape and stout proportions.

Skoda will not only have rivals from within the VW Group but also from the likes of the Jeep Avenger EV and the MINI Aceman. This new model will eventually sit above an even more affordable Skoda electric SUV that the brand now plans to launch around 2027 and below the Skoda Elroq that's due in 2024.
