Villagers in Tamil Nadu's Kancheepuram thrash kidnappers who abducted 17-year-old

CHENNAI: Four men who kidnapped two people incuding a minor and demanded ransom from their families were on Monday night caught by some residents of a village in Kancheepuram district and thrashed before being handed over to police.
While the arrested men Nataraj, 31, Iyappan, 19, Manikandan, 19, and Vigneshwaran are undergoing treatment at a hospital, police are hunting for two more suspects in connection with the abduction.
Police said one of the victims, a 17-year-old Class XII student, was on Monday morning walking towards Panruti junction bus stop when six men on three motorbikes stopped and kidnapped him at knifepoint.
Later that night, when the gang asked the teenager to contact his family, he called his 20-year-old cousin Prem Sing Singli, whose house was located a couple of streets from his.
When Prem Singh Singli rushed to the spot, he too was held hostage and the kidnappers called his father and demanded 50,000 to be sent through Gpay to a certain number.
The man transferred 14,000 in three transactions and informed police. Investigators traced the Gpay number to a recharge shop in Kancheepuram and that the accused's mobile numbers showed them in a forest area.
Police then informed the villagers who went in search. They found the kidnappers and surrounded them bu the latter began to wield machetes. In retaliation, the villagers hurled stones and logs and caught hold of four kidnappers.
Two managed to flee. Before police could arrive, the villagers tied all four suspects and beat them severely.
One of them ended up with a fracture to the right leg, one suffered a crack to the skull and two others had bruises and blood clots all over the body. The video of the villagers attacking the kidnappers went viral on social media.
