A titanium drinking item that goes by the name vampire straw flashed a tooth sharp enough to get its owner arrested by Massachusetts State Police on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon.

As opposed to round-ended metal straws, the vampire straw has a sharp end. The 10-inch titanium tool is sold by SzaboInc.com as a drinking straw and a weapon.

“Designed for self defense, the vampire straw is super tough and long enough to be used like a dagger; its chiseled tip is sharp enough to puncture most synthetic materials,” Szabo writes in the item’s description.

As such, the item is not allowed in carry-on bags, as 26-year-old passenger Arman Nair of Chicago found out Sunday night at Boston’s Logan International Airport.

Mr. Nair posted bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in a Boston court on May 30.
