Rajasthan industries dept to organise handloom week in Jaipur from Aug 3-7

Jaipur, Apr 26 (KNN) The Rajasthan industries department has decided to organise a handloom week in the state’s capital from August 3 to 7.
The five-day event aims to strengthen the manufacturing capacity of handloom, handicraft, khadi and terracotta and find new markets for their products. It will empower and build capacity of weavers, handicraft makers and other artisans.
The Handloom week is part of the Budget proposals for 2023-24 announced by the chief minister in February.
While a buyer and seller meet would be the core area of the event, focus will also be on design innovation, adoption of new techniques and live demonstration of various products manufacturing by the artisans engaged in the sectors, according to a report in TOI.
In the meeting chaired by ACS Industries Veenu Gupta on Tuesday, the department made a proposal to rope in Rajasthan Export Promotion Council and Export Promotion Council for Handicraft who will reach out to the international buyers to participate in the event.
It was suggested to include Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to help the industries department in putting up a fashion show of the products for generating better interest among the buyers. (KNN Bureau)
