LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that upcoming Urban Local Bodies elections in UP were all about choosing a government which promises to give youth tablets and computers instead of a 'tamancha' (countrymade pistol).
"It is time to decide if we want to hear gun shots fired by goons or listen to Bhajans and religious sermons resonating in our localities," he said while addressing a rally in Saharanpur, which goes to poll in the first phase of civic elections on May 4.
Launching the campaign from Saharanpur, Shamli and Amroha, the CM also said that the
BJP government had proved to be successful because it turned PM Narendra Modi's 'vision' into its 'mission'.
Asserting that his government had ensured a robust law and order situation in the state, he said in Saharanpur: "No curfew, no danga...UP mein sab changa...Rangdaari na phirauti...ab UP mein nahi hai kisi ki bapauti...Mafia apradhi ho gaye ateet...suraksha khushali, rozgar ka ab bana hai (UP) prateek (No curfew. No riot. Everthing is fine in UP. The state does not witness instances of extortion and gangsters are now history. UP is now known for security, happiness and employment)."
"Aaj mafia pe do boond aansun bahane wale bhi nahi hai...main aagey isliye nahi bol raha hun ki kuch bol dun to aur ho na jaye...(Now, there is no one to shed even two drops of tears for the mafia... I am not speaking further because if I say something, it may happen)," he said in Shamli.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the BJP’s success in civic body election would add another engine to the ‘double engine government’ which will help in seamless infusion of funds and infrastructure development at the local level. “Civic elections are meant to add the third engine” to the existing “double engine government” of the BJP in the state.
The success of BJP candidates on municipal seats would ensure a seamless infusion of funds and creation of infrastructure at the local level,” he said, while addressing a rally at Saharanpur’s Maharaj Singh Degree college ground. He tore into the opposition, primarily the SP, accusing its previous government of being too “pre-occupied” with orchestrating communal riots and imposing curfew in UP.
Yogi alluded to a riot which, he said, had connection with a Gurdwara. “One cannot forget how our
Sikh brothers were targeted and subsequently a curfew was imposed,” he said. “That’s not the case anymore. Now, Kanwar yatras are organised and there is no riot,” he asserted.
The CM also flayed the previous governments for creating a law and order crisis which resulted in forbidding girls from going to schools. He reiterated that the law and order situation in UP was now being cited as a ‘nazeer’ (example) before the entire country.
Yogi castigated the opposition of being casteist and 'exploiting' certain castes and for electoral benefits while depriving the communities from welfare schemes of the government. The CM cited how the BJP government provided houses under the PM Awas Yojana and toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission without any bias.
In Saharanpur town alone, he said over 18,000 people were given a house under PMAY. Likewise, he said, the state government gave free gas and electricity to people. The CM said the state government was also in the process of providing an airport, and railway and road connectivity to Maa Shakumbari peeth.
He cited the free vaccine and ration schemes rolled out during the pandemic. “A sensitive government works like this only,” he noted. Yogi said his government provisioned schemes and projects like integrated command centres and integrated traffic management systems for the development of urban centres and municipal town areas.
