Russian woman found dead at Morjim

Panaji: A 41-year-old Russian woman was found dead at a Morjim-based resort, in the Pernem taluka, on Monday. Pernem police said she is suspected to have died in her sleep.
Firsova Ekaterina had been residing at the resort with her American partner.
“Normally, she would wake up by 7am. When her partner found that she was still asleep at 10am on Monday, he tried to wake her. But she is suspected to have passed away in her sleep,” a police officer said. “Although there were no wounds on her body to indicate foul play, her viscera will be preserved and sent for chemical analysis to rule out any element of suspicion,” the officer added.
Ekaterina’s body has been preserved for autopsy and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has been informed. A postmortem examination will be conducted once her identity is confirmed and approval for the procedure is received from the Russian embassy.
