8-year-old Kerala girl dies after her phone explodes while watching video
The police said Sree’s uncle purchased the phone for her father three years back, however, they got the phone’s battery replaced at the same shop last year.

A shocking incident has come to light from Kerala’s Thrissur district where an eight-year-old girl died after her mobile phone exploded in her hand. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Monday at Thiruvilwamala.
The Pazhayannur Police is probing the case and suspect that the overheating of the battery may be led to the explosion of the phone. Reports state that the deceased, identified as Adithya Sree, was watching videos for a long time.
Adithya, daughter of Pazhayannur block panchayat former members Ashok Kumar and Saumya, suffered grievous injuries on her face. Sree’s fingers on her right hand got severed and also her palm was found broken, said police.
The mishap occurred when only Stree, a Class third student at Thiruvilawamala Christ New Life School, and her grandmother were present at the house. The phone exploded when her grandmother left for the kitchen to take food.

The police said Sree’s uncle purchased the phone for her father three years back, however, they got the phone’s battery replaced at the same shop last year.
Police have registered a case and will take further action after the forensic examination. Forensic experts will reach the house to complete the formalities.
Earlier in February, a 68-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district was found dead inside his home with his face and other upper body parts severely damaged after the battery of the mobile phone exploded.
Last year, an eight-month-old infant succumbed to her burn injuries after the battery of a mobile phone kept next to her in charging mode exploded in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly. The keypad mobile phone purchased around six months ago already had a swollen battery plugged into a switch connected to a solar panel.

72-year-old Mumbai man dies after man jumps on him in Goregaon swimming pool
The incident happened on Sunday evening at the Ozon swimming pool.

In a tragic incident, a 72-year-old man died in a swimming pool after another man jumped on him from a height in Mumbai’s Goregaon. The incident happened on Sunday evening at the Ozon swimming pool.
Reports state that the deceased, identified as Vishnu Samant, was swimming when a 20-year-old man jumped into the pool from a height, leaving him unconscious. The septuagenarian immediately fell unconscious as he suffered injuries on his neck and other parts of his body.
Samant, a resident of Alia Apartment in Goregaon East’s Chiruwadi, was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Narrating the incident, Dattaray Thopte, a senior police inspector of Goregaon police station, said that Samant left his house at 4:30 pm along with his grandson Neel Samant for swimming. At around 5:30 pm, Samant’s wife received a call from his grandson Neel that the former has been injured after a man jumped on him from the diving board.
On the basis of the wife’s complaints, the police registered a case against the accused under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The senior police inspector said that they are recording the statements of the pool staff, including the lifeguards and the swimming coaches. They are also probing the CCTV footage to understand the incident more distinctly and accordingly further action will be taken place.
Earlier in July, a house party in Israel turned nightmare for guests after a sinkhole opened under the swimming pool and sucked a man down a hole 13 meters deep.

PM Modi flags off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express, to inaugurate Kochi water metro shortly
Before the express train was flagged off, PM Modi interacted with school children sitting inside the coach of the train.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday flagged off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express Train from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway station.
Along with the prime minister, flagging off ceremony was done in the presence of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Congress Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor.
Before the express train was flagged off, PM Modi interacted with school children sitting inside the coach of the train.
The Prime Minister earlier this morning held a roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram greeting people across the road while flowers were showered at him.
PM Modi, who is on a two day visit to Kerala, arrived on Monday evening, after which held a 2-Km roadshow in the capital city Kochi and took part in a youth program later.

Prime Minister Modi is also to inaugurate the much anticipated country’s first water metro service, The Kochi Water Metro shortly.
A dream project of the state and the country, it is not only the first water metro service in the country but is going to be Asia’s first ever integrated water transport system that is to be operated at such a large scale and size.
The metro project is built at a cost of Rs 1,136.83 crore.
Initially, the services will run between High Court to Vypin and Vytilla to Kakkanad stretches. It would cover these journey within a time range of 20-25 minutes and the ticket price is set at Rs 20 only.
PM Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate projects worth Rs 3,200 crore across the state that will add up to the state’s infrastructure and development.
Prime Minister’s Kerala visit is being seen as a crucial step taken by the central government as BJP prepares itself for the general elections due next year.

Samajwadi Party MLA booked for holding contractor captive
Lucky Yadav is an SP MLA from the Malhani assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case against a sitting MLA and his aides for allegedly holding a PWD contractor captive.
An FIR has been registered against Samajwadi Party(SP) MLA Lucky Yadav and nine other people associated with him who are charged for assault of a contractor and keeping him captive.
Lucky Yadav is an SP MLA from the Malhani assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the complaint filed, the complainant identified as Hitesh along with an engineer was in the midway of a measurement work in the opposite lane of the MLAs house at around 10:30 PM on Sunday night, when MLA Yadav and his men started abusing Hitesh and the people working with them and told to stop the work.
Hitesh said that when the work was not stopped then the legislator’s supporters came and started beating him, engineer Dinesh Kumar and Hitesh’s Uncle Chand Prakash Singh.

Hitesh also alleged that three people were held hostage by MLA Yadav at his residence, as per him, engineer Dinesh, Hitesh and another person were held by Yadav.
Hitesh has also charged the MLA of threatening to murder, he claimed, when one of them tried calling the police, MLA and his men threatened to kill them.
Hitesh said that they got saved once the police arrived at the spot.
MLA Yadav in the meanwhile refuting the charges against him has alleged that the contractor crashed inside his house into the parking area, that’s when they got captured by the CCTV cameras and his security men held three people, while one fled the place.
The police has booked Yadav on various charges under IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 147 (punishment for rioting), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation.
