Nearly a month after revealing that users would have to purchase a Twitter Blue membership to keep the coveted tick, Twitter just removed the historic verified blue checkmarks from accounts. A number of high-profile celebrities, film stars, politicians, and athletes also lost their blue tick. Among them was Shark Tank India Judge Anupam Mittal, who previously had a verified Twitter account, but has now lost his badge.
Anupam shared a tweet reacting to the blue tick, now he has decided to cancel his plans on buying a Tesla. He tweeted, "Am cancelling my planned purchase of a
Tesla … ticked off" The former shark was quite angry at losing his verification badge.
While some Twitter users were amused by his remark, others advised him not to complain and instead pay for the verification badge. ''You could start another Twitter in India due to having Huge Audiences there,'' one person proposed to the Shark.
Another user wrote, "Meanwhile,
Elon Musk has already cancelled his shaadi ;)"
A user also suggested another way to get his blue tick back and wrote, "You should buy any Elon's product to survive on Twitter ser. Go for the SpaceX Falcon rocket. It will suit you more." Anuoam reacted with the rocket emoji, hinting at what he plans to buy from Elon's product list.
Several Bollywood superstars, including
Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, as well as politicians including CM Yogi Adityanath,
Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, and cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have lost their verified blue ticks on Twitter. However, later the blue ticks returned to the accounts that paid the premium amount for the services.
