PATNA: The state registered 87 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours even as two more persons succumbed to the virus on Monday. So far, 12,308 people have died of Covid in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
"A 52-year-old woman from Siwan died on Sunday at AIIMS-Patna. She was admitted to the hospital on April 23 after an open heart surgery," said health department secretary
Sanjay Kumar Singh.
The second victim was identified as a 40-year-old man from Chatra in
Jharkhand, who was undergoing treatment at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College in Gaya. Hospital superintendent Dr Sri Prakash Singh said the man was admitted to ANMMCH on April 10. "He was suffering from several health ailments, including hypertension, diabetes and hyperthyroidism," he added.
Meanwhile, 87 new Covid cases were reported against 18,670 samples tested in the state in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in the state stood at 824 on Monday. The positivity rate, on the other hand, has jumped to 0.46%.
