Mangaluru: AICC spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra said the BJP, having been unable to deflect the anti-incumbency wave, has been trying to divert the attention of the people. On Monday, he said the RSS tried to damage the history of Karnataka by removing the lessons on Narayana Guru from textbooks, but it was reintroduced following the opposition.
“The Basavaraj Bommai government cheated the followers of Sri Narayana Guru by only announcing Sri Narayan Guru Development Corporation, but not sanctioning any budgetary fund provision for same. Announcing the corporation at fag end of its tenure looks like mere lip service to retain its lost vote share. Bommai should apologise for giving step-brotherly treatment to followers of Sri Narayana Guru,” he said.
He lashed at BJP MPs and MLAs and said they were mute spectators during merger of Vijaya Bank, Syndicate Bank and Corporation Bank.
“The BJP has trampled upon the pride of Dakshina Kannada by merging Vijaya Bank, Syndicate Bank, and Corporation Bank, thereby losing identity. The merger of Vijaya Bank has resulted in job loss for people of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Many families owe their livelihood to these banks either in the form of employment or financial support. Surprisingly, BJP MPs, and MLAs did not have guts to register their protests to Union finance Minister or Prime Minister,” he added.
AICC spokesperson Shama Mohamed was present.
