Final list of mayoral candidates out

Varanasi: The district election office on Monday released the final list of candidates and their symbols for the upcoming elections to the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) and Gangapur Nagar Panchayat.
Deputy DEO for urban local bodies (ULBs) Ranvijay Singh said as per the final list of candidates, Anil Srivastava of Congress, Ashok Kumar Tiwari of BJP, Om Prakash Singh of Samajwadi Party (SP), Sharda Tandon of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Subhash Chandra Majhi of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Anand Kumat Tiwari of Suheldeo Bhartiya Samaj Party will contest for the Mayor post. Besides, five independent candidates are in the fray for the top post of the civic body, he said. Of them, Om Prakash Chaurasia has been alloted the symbol of conch shell, Deepak Lal has been given wooden plough, Virendra Kumar Gupta star, Shamsher Khan shehnai and Harish Mishra has been given aeroplane as the poll symbols.tnn
