Workers from other communities not to join stir, will continue work
Jaipur: “We have had several meetings and agreements with the state government where they promised to give Valmiki community priority in recruitments. There are formal orders regarding this, but when the recruitment advertisement was issued, it came to be known it was being done through the reservation process,” said Nand Kishore Dandoriya, president of ‘Samyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh’.
“Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced these jobs for the Valmiki community, but officials sitting in these departments who issue these orders are not letting it to be implemented. Sanitation workers come under the Group D category of employees where reservation is not mandatory. Till our demands are met, we will continue our strike and the administration will be responsible for this,” Dandoriya said.
All sanitation work such as door-to-door waste collection, cleaning of streets will be affected due to the strike.
City sanitation workers were joined by others from districts such as Udaipur and Bhilwara for the protest on Monday. Meanwhile, sanitation workers from other communities said they would not participate in the strike and would continue to work.
“Sanitation workers from other communities will not participate in the strike. They continue to work with the support of officials from the municipal corporation. We will not let the common people of the city suffer,” said Rakesh Meena, a leader of sanitation workers from Jaipur.
