Sudan fighting: India should refrain from making comments, says defence expert Praful Bakshi

As the fight between the Sudanese Army and paramilitary groups intensified in the capital Khartoum and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched ‘Operation Kaveri’ to evacuate Indians, a defence expert Praful Bakshi reacted on the same and said that India should refrain from making comments and should volunteer in providing humanitarian aids. Commenting on the current situation in Sudan, the expert said, “The evacuation in Sudan is a very serious matter as we have a number of Indians out there. Both the factions, that are fighting have friendly relations with India, they respect Indians. We have the capability of strategic airlifting and sea capability and the ‘Kaveri’ operation is underway to evacuate citizens through naval ships.” “There is no problem as far as the evacuation of Indians is concerned. India should refrain from making any statement on Sudan and we should volunteer in providing humanitarian aid,” expert Praful Bakshi stated further. India has launched ‘Operation Kaveri’ to bring back stranded Indians from war-torn Sudan through naval ships. Meanwhile, Diplomats from Africa, the Middle East and the West have appealed for a halt to the fighting but with no result.
