PATNA: Residents are enjoying a much-needed respite from the heatwave as recent rainfall has brought cooler temperatures and a refreshing change in the atmosphere.
The maximum temperature in Patna dropped to 32.7°C on Monday, making it easier for residents to go about their daily activities.
According to the latest weather forecast from the Patna Meteorological Centre, the temperature is expected to remain around 36 to 38 degrees C, with light rain at isolated places over most parts of the state, except north-west and north-central Bihar till April 26.
"Little rain is expected in parts of Patna on Tuesday. The weather is expected to stay cloudy in the state over the next four days," said Ashish Kumar Singh, a scientist at Patna Meteorological Centre.
Isolated rain is characterised by scattered and localized rainfall, which occurs in short bursts and affects small areas in a region periodically and not continuously.
Parts of Araria, Supaul, Khagaria and Saharsa experienced light to moderate thunderstorm, lightning and rain accompanied with gusty winds of 30 to 40kmph; while parts of Bhojpur, Siwan and Saran experienced moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with rain in the last 24 hours.
"The rainfall has brought much-needed relief from the heatwave in all parts of the state. We expect the weather to not cross 40 degrees C in the next 4 days. Maximum temperature in all parts of the state is likely to remain between 36 to 38 degrees C," Singh said.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) are expected at isolated places in south-west and south-central parts of the state on Tuesday.
The same is expected for isolated places over north-east, south-central and south-east parts of the state on Wednesday.
