Bloodstains, knife found inside Atiq’s office: Cops
PRAYAGRAJ :More than a week after gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed was shot dead in cold blood by three men, police said on Monday that they had found bloodstains on the floors of a partially demolished office building owned by the murdered man in the city’s Karbala area. It was yet to be determined whether the blood was human or that of animals.
Police also recovered a broken window mirror, a long cotton sheet resembling a saree, and a small knife, both bloodstained, from this house. Senior cops, including DCP (city) DeepakBhuker, and forensic experts rushed to the spot. “Samples of bloodstains found in the house have been sent to the forensic lab for analysis. We are awaiting the report, after which the further course of action will be decided,” he said.
“We are also compiling CCTV footage from the sets installed at nearby buildings and streets,” he added.
The bloodstains were found in many places from the ground floor to the first floor, including the kitchen and stairs. The household items kept in the kitchen were found scattered about. In one room police found a piece of cloth suspected to be a saree with bloodstains.
Khuldabad police said, “It is yet to be ascertained how these bloodstains came here when there was no recovery of any dead or injured person or animal. The forensic report will ascertain whether the bloodstains were of human beings or animals. ” Last month police had seized Rs 72 lakh in cash and a huge cache of weapons from the debris of this building after arresting five aides of Atiq following the killing of Umesh Pal.
