Prayagraj: Blood stains, knife found inside partially demolished office building of Atiq Ahmed
Police deployed at Atiq Ahmed's office during an investigation on his killing, in Prayagraj on Monday
PRAYAGRAJ: Sensation was created here when police on Monday found blood stains on floors, a broken window mirror, a long cotton sheet resembling a saree and a small knife, both having blood stains, under mysterious circumstances inside the partially demolished office building owned by slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in Karbala area under the limits of Khuldabad police station in the city.
Upon being alerted, senior police officials including DCP (City) Deepak Bhuker along with forensic experts rushed to the spot and carried out investigations.
Bhuker said, “Samples of blood stains found in the building have been sent to forensic lab for analysis. We are awaiting the forensic report after which further course of action would be decided.”
“We are also compiling the CCTV footage of CCTV sets installed at nearby buildings and streets to get clues,” he added.
The blood stains were found on many spots — from the ground floor to the first floor, including kitchen and stairs. The household items kept inside the kitchen were also found scattered. Inside one room, a piece of cloth suspected to be a saree having blood stains was also found.
Khuldabad police said, “It is yet to be ascertained as to how these blood stains came here at a time when there was no recovery of any dead or injured person or animal. The forensic report will ascertain whether the blood stains were of any human being or animal.” In March, police had seized Rs 72.37 lakh cash and a huge cache of weapons from the debris of the same building after ensuring the arrest of five key associates of Atiq following the killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal murder witness Umesh Pal and two of his police gunners.
Lawyer Umesh Pal along with his two police gunners were shot dead by a group of miscreants outside his house at Sulemsarai locality under the limits of Dhoomanganj police station on February 24.
The partially demolished building, known as Atiq’s office, was in news since he along with his younger brother was gunned down by a group of three assailants inside the campus of Colvin hospital under the limits of Shahganj police station here on April 15.
