All-electric Skoda estate car to arrive in 2026

Skoda’s looking to its back catalogue of fantastic family estates for its new MEB EV

The most radical model from Skoda’s plan to introduce four all-new EVs by 2026 will take the form of a new electric estate, offering a large, practical and classless family wagon with a new spin. Previewed by an official sculpture showing off a sleek two-box design, the all-new model will join Skoda’s three forthcoming electric SUVs in the range, and sit alongside its combustion-powered Octavia and Superb estates.

The new EV estate will be built on a lengthened version of the existing MEB platform, rather than the VW Group’s newer SSP architecture. Up until this point, all Skoda’s electric models have taken the form, by and large, of an SUV, but this new model will probably take its lead from the recently-revealed Volkswagen ID.7, which is also due to be offered in an estate form.

The new model is said to be around 4.7 metres long, putting it more in line with the current Octavia than the larger Superb in terms of footprint. Yet by capitalising on its cab-forward proportions, the model has the potential to unlock more interior space than both its combustion-powered counterparts.

Technical details are still to be defined, but having its basis on the MEB platform could see it share basic battery sizes and motor layouts with the new ID.7. This includes a new 86kWh battery pack that was introduced in its new VW counterpart, extending the ID.7’s range to as much as 400 miles. Both single and dual-motor variants are expected to be offered, the latter adding all-wheel drive to the mix.

As shown in our exclusive render, the new estate will feature the same new ‘Modern Solid’ design language that’s already been previewed by the Vision 7S concept.

This simplified and modernised aesthetic will be shared inside the cabin, potentially incorporating a new portrait-aspect central display as already seen in the 7S Concept. As with its other models, Skoda will retain most of the interior’s physical dials and buttons, combining it with a selection of surprise and delight features generally included in all Skoda models.
