3 killed, 3 injured in blast, fire at biomass pellet plant

Nagpur: Three workers were killed while three others sustained serious burns, and one is missing, after a blast and subsequent fire at Katariya Agro Private Limited plant at Sonegaon Nipani at Hingna Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area on Monday morning. Six labourers had a miraculous escape. The condition of one worker is critical.
The cause of the blast and fire could not be ascertained. Though manufacturing flammable products, the firefighting equipment at the factory was found non-operational.
The police have identified the deceased as Hemraj Armo, Adesh Dahiwale and Anurodh Madavi. The injured labourers, Dharmendra Agashe, Vikas Madavi and Sarin Madavi, were admitted in a nearby private hospital with severe burns. MIDC police have registered a case of accidental deaths.
