Ahmedabad airport’s departure terminal gets a revamp

AHMEDABAD: The departure area of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is going through major revamping to enhance passenger experience and increase security hold area owing to rapidly growing passenger traffic.
The expansion at level 1 in the security hold area will add to facilities and amenities to meet the fast-growing traffic demand. The baby-care room and Smoking lounge will also be revamped as part of ongoing work.
The city airport’s passenger footfalls recently crossed 10 million (1 crore) recently. “With the volume of aircraft movement and passengers growing exponentially, SVPI airport is constantly putting in efforts to enhance the connectivity for passengers and further improve customer experience by infrastructure development,” the city airport authorities said in a statement.
With the reengineering, the area within the terminal will be increased to accommodate more facilities, including baby-care room, smoking lounge, a wider choice of food and beverages outlets, national and international branded retail outlets, more seating area to match the global standards.
The renovation and expansion of the first floor at T1 is likely to be completed in three months to get a fresh and modern look. However, some essential services will be available to passengers within one month.
