German crane rental company Kranverleih Wilhelm has taken delivery of a new 150 tonne Grove GMK5150XL All Terrain crane.
The new five axle crane boasts a seven section 68.7 metre main boom with a capacity of 8.1 tonnes when fully extended, 9.4 tonnes at 66 metres and 12.7 tonnes with 60 metres. This is one of the longest booms on a crane under 200 tonnes. It can also be equipped with the 16.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. The GMK 5150XL can travel with up to 10.2 tonnes of counterweight on board while keeping within 12 tonne axle loadings. The new crane arrives Marco Guth, Chris Heun of Kranverleih Wilhelm with Holger Haber of Manitowoc . Based in St. Michaelisdonn northwest of Hamburg, Wilhelm’s new 150 tonner went directly to its first job placing a boat into the water ready for the new sailing season. The yacht weight 14 tonnes, and was lifted smoothly into Stör river, a tributary of the Elbe, at a radius of 21 metres.
