Thane bags second spot at state award
THANE: The chief minister’s city of Thane earned laurels at the City Beautification and Cleanliness Competition-2022 conducted by the Urban Development Department of the State Government, municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar informed on Thursday.
“The Thane corporation has bagged the second position in the City Beautification and Cleanliness Competition-2022 in the 'A' and 'B' Class Municipal Corporation category whose assessment was done starting last September. Also, we won the second rank for excellent performance in civil administration. The parameter was for better government fund utilisation and tax recovery. We managed to earn nearly 96% of our tax targets last fiscal,” said Bangar.
It may be recalled that Bangar who assumed charge last year emphasised on overall beautification and cleaner surrounding of Thane city. “We have started the process of bringing about a change in Thane and expect cooperation from residents to scale more heights in the coming years,” he said.
The prize money of Rs 10 crores along with a certificate was presented to the Commissioner by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
