BERHAMPUR: An annual medical test for all police personnel in Ganjam district will begin at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here from Monday, a senior police officer said.
Around 600 police personnel above 40 years of age will undergo the tests. The massive exercise is aimed to ascertain whether police personnel have any ailment.
Following the murder of cabinet minister Naba Kisore Das on January 29 by Gopal Das, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), in Brajarajnagar, the state police have decided to conduct an annual medical test for its rank and file.
“We have already discussed the issue with the hospital administration. Every day around 20 to 25 police officers will undergo free medical tests,” said Saravana Vivek M, SP (Berhampur). A senior police officer will coordinate with the hospital officials for the medical tests, he added.
“We will delegate the responsibility for coordinating with the police officers and facilitating their health check-up to a hospital manager,” said Suchitra Das, superintendent of MKCG.
