Elderly woman strangled in her house in Rajkot

RAJKOT: A 63-year-old woman was strangled at her house allegedly by an unknown person in Maruti Nagar on Kothariya road in Rajkot on Saturday evening. The deceased, identified as Sunita Chanchariya, lived with her husband Ishwar Chanchariya at a rented accommodation in Maruti Nagar.
According to the police, the woman was rushed to the hospital on Sunday where the doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her postmortem report revealed that she had been strangulated. Also, there was swelling near her eyes and face indicating that the victim was assaulted, said police inspector Madhudhwaj Singh of Bhaktinagar police station.
In a complaint filed by Sunita’s daughter Maheshwari Khuva (33), her parents had been living at the current residence for the past nine years. She stated that her mother was suffering from psychological issues which were hereditary in nature.
On Saturday evening, she found her mother in an unconscious state and rushed her to the hospital in 108 ambulance. But the doctors attending her in the emergency room declared her dead.
Police have booked an unknown person for murder of Sunita and started further investigation.
