Remove Periyar University registrar: PMK

Salem: Rajya Sabha MP and the state president of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday urged the state government to remove Periyar University registrar (full additional charge) K Thangavel from the post at the earliest. He said Thangavel had been taking revenge on the teaching faculty members who were finding fault with him.
The registrar had recently issued a memo to assistant professor V Vaidhyanathan, of Economics Department, for participating in a demonstration by the Periyar University’s Employees Union in Salem city on April 9, condemning the irregularities in the university. “The assistant professor is also the president of the Periyar University Teachers’ Association. He participated in the protest as the association’s president and not as the assistant professor.” tnn
