NCP leader Uday Sonawane gets relief in ‘harassment’ case, complainant withdraws case and goes for amicable settlement

OpIndia has learnt that a settlement was reached between the two parties and Sangtani has given a 'no objection' to quashing proceedings against Sonawane.

NCP leader Uday Sonawane has been given relief by Bombay High Court in criminal writ petition 1299 of 2023 in the alleged harassment case levelled against him by lawyer and Twitter user @penguinhowler alias Adv Shweta Chatur Sangtani. OpIndia has learnt that a settlement was reached between the two parties and Sangtani has given a ‘no objection’ to quashing proceedings against Sonawane.

Sangtani, in January 2022 had alleged Sonawane subjected her to online harassment for years. She had narrated on Twitter how, Sonawane, who she said is married and has a child, has been stalking her since the 1st year of law school. She was 35-years-old when she made the allegations as per her tweet.

Sangtani has not yet deleted her tweets.
