JAISALMER: Three people were burnt alive in a fire that broke out after collision between two trailers under Gudamalani police station in Barmer district on Monday morning.
The incident took place at Alpura village near Gudamalani Aduram petrol pump in Barmer district.
A total of four people, including the driver, were there in both the trailers.
Gudamalani police station officer Ramesh Dhaka said, "A trailer was going from Bikaner towards Sanchore. The second truck loaded with tiles was going from Barmer to Balotra. Meanwhile, there was a huge collision between the two trailers on Mega Highway Gudamalani near Aaduram Petrol Pump near Alpura. Within minutes, both the trailers caught fire."
He said, "After this incident, there was a jam on the highway. There were long queues of vehicles on both sides. At the same time, the fire brigade was called from RGT. Till then, both the trailers were burnt over 60-80 per cent. Pradeep (23), resident of Dharnok Nokha Bikaner, and Laxmanram, resident of Dharnok Nokha Bikaner, were in the trailer filled with tiles. Pradeep was burnt alive, whereas Laxmanram was seriously injured. His treatment is going on in the hospital."
At the same time, Mohammed Hasaf Sharif's son Samu Khan, resident of Jajhu Bikaner, was in a trailer filled with soil who was burnt alive. The other person sitting in the truck has not been identified yet, investigation is on in that regard.
The police officer said, after controlling the fire with the help of fire brigade and local people, the three badly burnt bodies were taken out from there by cutting the trucks, and they have been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem.
The fire has been brought under control and the traffic movement on the highway is now normal.
According to the information received from another source, Kaka-Bhatija, residents of Bikaner, were going towards Balotra by filling tiles in the trailer. At the time of the accident, nephew Pradeep was driving the trailer and uncle Laxmanram was sitting nearby. With the collision, the trailer caught fire and the nephew got trapped inside. Kaka Laxmanram saved his life by jumping. Both the trailers were burnt on sight.
