Thane doctor, brother conned of Rs 23 lakh in govt job opportunity scam

Thane: Police have booked an unidentified woman for allegedly conning a Thane doctor and his brother of collectively Rs 23 lakh under the pretext of providing them job opportunities at plum positions in various government organisations.
The police said that the woman was introduced to the doctor through a common friend a few months back. The woman who probably stays in the national capital had claimed she was closely associated with several central government officials and ministries.
The victim had then expressed his desire to work at some key positions in organisations affiliated with the government following which the accused informed him about some openings for plum positions.
“The accused and the victim are learnt to have met a few times over the issue wherein a proposal to find a suitable job for his brother was also discussed to which the woman agreed. The accused reportedly sent some emails to the victim trying to garner his trust following which she made demands for some money. The victims made few payments online but got wary of her intentions when there were no developments for a very long time following which she approached the police,” a Thane police officer said.
A case was registered at the Vartak Nagar police station under relevant sections of the IPC. The police said they were investigating the case further.
