A rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures in and around Pune is expected in the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the maximum temperature in the city would be 37 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature would be 18 degree.
Cloudy skies, especially at night, would result in a convective current which can lead to an increase in nighttime temperatures as well.
The weather bureau has also predicted that there are chances of thunder and lightning, especially during the afternoons. According to the early forecast by IMD, thunder and lightning would start from Monday due to high temperatures and moisture incursion.
IMD has asked citizens to be careful during periods of short and intense rainfall as well as thunder and lightning. It has already issued a warning for citizens in regard to precautions to be taken against the heat. Most citizens have been asked not to go out in the afternoon when the temperature is high.
The present trend of high temperature, IMD said, was normal for the summer months. April has been unusually wet for Pune thanks to the rain and thunderstorms it has received from the beginning of the month.
